S.BUS vs PPM / RFD telemetry quality

Hello to all!

First I will start with questions, below is the description of my problem:

  1. Does S.BUS load the connection more than PPM?
  2. Can the yaapu script in TX16S display telemetry using mavlink transmission or does it only receive data from S.BUS?

For a few years I have been using brilliant RFD radio modems without any problems (mavlink telemetry + ppm), but a few days ago I decided to buy RFD TXMOD v2 and TX16S MK2 radio, because my dream was to have basic telemetry data on the radio. From what I understood, in order to get telemetry via yaapu script, I have to set RC connection to S.BUS instead of PPM. This caused a terrible slowdown in telemetry data via wifi (I have not managed to start via yaapu yet - but I do not know whether to bother with it if S.BUS loads the connection more). My priority is smooth transmission of telemetry, I have never had a problem with the PPM signal. I can’t increase the air speed to more than 64kbps. Before I started testing it, I was sure that the TX16S would simply receive telemetry from the RX/TX modem.

I searched the whole forum, including a great thread Combined RC and Telemetry on a single link (TXMod v2, RFD 900x, TX16S, GCS, Matek H743) - #39 by atex
where @xfacta explained the topic in detail, but I’m afraid of slowing down the transmission to use telemetry in the TX16S via S.BUS.

I would be very grateful for your help

Check this for setting up the TXMOD to use SBUS (as it should be) and 115k baud.

Definitely set up Yaapu telemetry script as soon as possible, dont even bother trying to read sensors and all that in the default telemetry screen.

On the TX16S use EdgeTX 2.9.4
Dont go to a later version yet, there is a fix in the pipeline for some issues that will stop the telemetry working.

That should keep you off the streets for a while
