My rubber pieces which are around the screws that hold the GoPro mount in the IRIS body broke.
From what I can tell, they are horrible quality and mounting and unmounting the GoPro mount a few times will definitely take it’s toll.
I replaced them with a Silicon Ear Tip for a Headset (amazon.com/Medium-Replacemen … B004WSA1BY) that I had laying around.
Works very well. I even get the impression it works better than the original ones.
Another idea that I had was to use a small O-Ring from the hardware store. Haven’t tried that yet though.
Seems like a safer application for rubber inserts. I didn’t realize the stock GoPro mount had these, I never took mine off (no need to… ???).
Just use blue locktite just in case. No telling what will happen to a GoPro when it falls from ~400ft or even higher, nor what will happen to the Iris after suddenly losing the front-end weight…
In the meantime I used some of the Kyosho Zeal gel mat - which I had left over from mounting the Pixhawk - between the front GoPro mount and the frame. This really helped reducing Jello a lot from what I can tell.
