Quad Plus Frame Motor Position Ratio

Could you please take a look at this 2nd flight log file. The aircraft was in AltHold mode over 30 sec. Should I move forward with AutoTune now?

BTW, in the AMC when I tried to zip the file for the forum it open the forum and no zip file was created.

It opens the forum, creates the .zip file on your hard drive and tells you where the file is stored.

You need to manually attach it to a forum post.

No after the hover flight you need to configure the notch filter, autotune comes much later.

Don’t be impatient. Impacience is the cause of most crashes.

When you say “Configure the notch filter” you are refering to this section, which is also titled Notch Filter Calibration, section 8.1?

Yes, exactly that step. And before doing any other flight do step 20 as well.

According to QuickTune wikipage, the copter should be in Loiter mode not Althold, and a 3-position switch mid starts the script and high position saves the new PID values. I will attempt this now.

So I tried QuickTune with three-position switch as described in the ardupilot/libraries/AP_Scripting/applets/VTOL-quicktune.md at master · ArduPilot/ardupilot · GitHub, and that didn’t work.

But the good news is that the craft Loiter perfectly as it was tuned out of the box with default PIDs.

So my next action is to see if the Lua script even exists on the FC, and it does. However, watching some other videos, I question the directory structure at MAVftp (See screenshot) on my FC.

Should the script folder be right below the main folder?

Why would you watch a Video?

Google “arducopter lua” and select the 1st result which will be the Ardupilot Lua wiki page which of course shows the directory structure.

So the directory structure on the FC is correct. It still doesn’t explain why Quicktune lua won’t run? Even Yaapu screen confirms it’s there?

The QuickTune Wiki page also shows the directory structure so perhaps you have not read that either?

QuickTune

I have read that and double triple check all the settings.

Sorry, I don’t want to derail the conversation. Is this a VTOL Quad plane, or a normal quad? You’ve got copter firmware on the log I downloaded, but this post is in Plane, and the screen shot of Yaapu says “QUAD:Quadplane”. I’m just confused.

It will be a quad plane eventually (Vtol). My approach is baby steps. I want to make sure it hover properly before adding servos and motors, and enabling the “Q”

Vibrations are well below 10db

PID Review also looks reasonable as well as observed during flight.

My only complaint is that why QuickTune lua won’t work :frowning: It is such an excellent tool and I will need this in the future, so trouble shooting is my obsession now.

Share your params. Maybe there’s something there.

Only .lua files are loaded.

@Allister I looked at the log and SCR_ENABLE is there and set to 1.

I was thinking about QUIK_ENABLE but it’s also set.

RC9 is configured for the switch but in that log it’s not moving off of low. Got another log where it does and it’s flying in Loiter?

Exactly! Do you know why, beacuse TBS CRS fire Rx is only good for upto 8 channels…lol

Question: Since my ESC does not support telemetry, should I set INS_HNTCH_MODE = 1(Throttle)? OR Fixed 0?

1 throttle mode and multi source.
