Quad no longer flies?

Hello peeps,
Firstly I’d like to say I’m new to APM so if I’m doing something glaringly noob forgive me.
My quad(TBS Disco) was flying ok no problems and I wanted to do an auto tune.
I connected to MP and was asked if I’d like to update the FW.
I said yes and the install without a hitch.
I went out this morning and now my quad doesn’t even get off the round it’s totally uncontrollable.
Do I have to calibrate everything again?
If I do I’d like to wipe everything and start from scratch , how do I do this?

Cheers

Paul

In a word Yes! See the “Known Issues and Warnings” here http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/arducopter-3-2-released You must recalibrate your accelerometer and compass if you are upgrading from an earlier version of FW. Also you should upgrade your version of Mission Planner to the most recent 1.3.15 to be fully compatible with 3.2 FC FW.

Ok so I ran the wizard successfully and she still won’t fly .
I’ve calibrated the compass and accelerometer , basically done everything required but the quad flips on takeoff .
It has to be the firmware as everything was fine before installing the newer version.
Should I revert to the previous version ?

Can you post a log file please?

I’ve reverted back to the previous firmware version and she flies again.
Have just finished a AutoTune and I’m really happy with the way she flies now .
Thanks for your replies I’ve attached a couple of log files just in case your interested.

The problem is not the new firmware. The problem is your parameters. Obviously some parameter from the old firmware is not working in the new one. It’s better to find out what that is and fix it, rather than just go back to old firmware.

If you would like to do that, we can help. If you’re just going to stay with the old firmware anyway, no point bothering, so please just let me know before I continue.

Your parameters show your frame type as + configuration (Frame,0). TBS Discovery is I believe an H type Frame and should be Frame,3 http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/arducopter-parameters/#Frame_Orientation_X_or_V_ArduCopterFRAME
EDIT: I edited this comment after a bit further research, I believe it should be an H frame based on Bill Bonney’s comments in another post here http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=9471

Nice catch. If he has it set to + mode, that is definitely wrong, and would cause a flip.

I have a Discovery and my frame type is set to 2 which is V and flies fine.

I do appreciate the help however I’m time poor atm and the quad is flying great so I’ll leave it as it is for now.
I agree that it would be better to be using the new firmware and I will upgrade when I can spend some time configuring everything.
I’m learning a lot here too so this will help for future upgrades.
