Proximity incorrect using Slamtec LIDAR C1 on ArduRover 4.6.3

I’m having some issues with a Slamtec LIDAR C1 on ArduRover 4.6.3

The distance shown / indicated is nowhere near to thevactual distance of objects.

I have tried changing the “SHED_LOOP_RATE” to various settings up to 450 Hz. But whilst it improves the readings, it doesn’t fix it.

Been originally using a rate of 400 as suggested for Rover. Does anyone know what the max. safe value is for this setting?

This was taken whilst rover was placed in a small garden shed. There is less than 1m from the LIDAR unit to the shed wall in any direction. Yet as seen in image it shows over 6m in distance. Did notice it briefly does respond to movement and indicate a closer proximity, but then reverts to readings seen in screenshot.

Tested LIDAR with factory supplied software and it works as expected. So must be related how it is handled with ArduRover software.

FC is a Pixhawk 6C-Mini

Any help / ideas would be appreciated.

Update:

Done more tests and it would appear the unit of measure may be incorrect.

@tridge

In the parameter settings the values are in meters. Yet in MAVLink they appear to be in cm.

However, given that the walls of the shed my rover is kept in, are between 700-800mm away from the LIDAR unit in all directions, the distance readout would be correct if it was in fact in mm rather then the apparent cm.
