Problem: no log files

ArduPlane: V4.6.2

SpeedyBee F405 WING

(Delete because too many unnecessary files were stored.)

Log files: (No files are listed)

I need your help.

What am I doing wrong?

If you can, remove the SD card from the controller and check it directly on your computer. From memory I think logs are in the directory APM/logs/

Thanks for the quick reply

No files are listed under APM on the PC!

APM

 LOGS – No Files

 STRG_BAK – STRG0.bak … STRG99.bak

 TERRAIN – N49E009.DAT, N50E009.DAT

If the SD card is blank then there might not be much left to do.

In mission planner you can save your parameter file and post that here. Maybe at least we can figure out why it isn’t logging.

Check that your parameter LOG_BACKEND_TYPE is set to 1 (file)

after today’s test

Hardware: SpeedyBeeF405WING/ Wing Mini
Confusing, do I now have a WING board or a MINI board?
Firmware for this board can be found here in sub-folders
labeled “SpeedyBeeF405WING”.

Firmware site, path: /Plane/stable-4.6.0/SpeedyBeeF405WING
Firmware 4.6.0 – LOG Files ok
LOG_BACKEND_TYPE = 1 = Default

Firmware site, path: /Plane/stable-4.6.2/SpeedyBeeF405WING
Firmware 4.6.2 – No Log Files – No RTL!
LOG_BACKEND_TYPE = Default (?)

Firmware site, path: /Plane/stable-4.6.3/SpeedyBeeF405WING
Firmware 4.6.3 – No Log Files – No AHRS_ORIENTATION - (RTL?)
LOG_BACKEND_TYPE = Default (?)

I guess I’ll have to live with firmware 4.6.0.
I’m hoping for better weather, so I can solve the NICK problem.

How did you arm the plane with 4.6.2 and 4.6.3?

Is ARMING_CHECKS set to 1?

Do you have full GPS lock when you’re attempting these tests?

And “the NICK problem”, are you referring to a pitch issue?

There is a F405-Wing, an F405-Wing Mini, which use the same firmware and an F405-Mini which uses a different firmware.
Not that I know that 1st hand, I wouldn’t use any of those Flight Controllers.

Space is always limited in glider models.

Therefore, the SpeedyBeeF405WingMini is generally a good choice.

FBWA and RTL are helpful, important, and also work reliably (4.6.0).

It would be desirable ( Glider) to have a parameter to switch from RTL

to DO LANDING at a certain altitude!

AHRS_ORIENTATION is not that important, the module just needs to be recalibrated

(it was easier with AHRS_ORIENTATION).

ARMING_CHECKS is set to default and GPS is locked (have full GPS).

ARMING_REQUIRE is set to zero in flight and must be set to one to read the log file.

I’ve already created a new topic.

Problem between MANUAL / FWBA and LOITER / RTL

A log file is needed to solve this problem.

Hence the problem with the log file.
