Poz_horiz_abs Off and ublox protocol on HGLRC M10

Hello.

I got poz_horiz_abs Off flag in EKF Status when GPS_TYPE set to ublox. But when I change GPS_TYPE to NMEA that flag is On.

I was waiting hours with 25+ sats hdop 0,5, moved gps away from electronics, trying autoconfiguration/manual configuration and nothing changes. The flag is permanently Off in ublox mode.

GPS is HGLRC M10. I’ve spent a lot of time to solve that problem but with no luck. Please help.

Hi @jelcyn,

So this means that the GPS is configured to output NMEA instead of the UBlox protocol. ArduPilot by default doesn’t try to auto-detect NMEA GPSs because we found that we could not reliable do it. Using the NMEA messages on a UBlox is also not ideal so the best solution would be to configure the GPS to output the UBlox protocol instead.

You might be able to use UBlox’s U-center software to re-configure the GPS (see wiki here). I’m slightly surprised that this is necessary but I’m not familiar with the particular GPS you’re using.

The M10 is not a very good GPS by the way. The “10” makes it seem like maybe it would be good but an F9 is far far better.

As a side note, here’s another user struggling with this GPS.

These very likely contain clone/counterfeit u-Blox modules and should be avoided. A genuine M10-based module is fine for general (non precision) use.

I enabled the NMEA protocol only for diagnostic purposes.
After a long struggle, found a solution. I unchecked the speed error in EK3_GPS_CHECK.
Now the poz_horiz_abs flag still works, it is the last one to disappear,
but i think it is less sensitive.

I don’t think that surpressing checks is a real solution.
