I am contemplating the upgrading my 16”, home designed and cnc cut carbon fibre quad.
It was built, circa 2016, around a PIXHACK 2.8.4. Currently installed V4.5.7 (2a3dc4b7) fmuv3 firmware. Only two major crashes, both pilot error, broken Undercarriage!
Some of the sensors I’m trying to test bed are pushing the limits and I need to replace the telemetry with ELRS and add scripting.
I would like to keep the current tune, as is, and the Pixhawk AMP current/voltage sensor.
I will also keep the Holybro Tekko32 F4 45A x1 4 off (circa 2018 I think) a very reliable ESC and GOKU GM10 Flywoo GPS.
Proposed upgrade to a Matek H743V3 (spare unused), V4.7.to give some future proof.
I compared the PARAM files of the 16” with my Chimera H743 4.6 and found them surprisingly similar, NOT the PIDS and many added or removed functions, obviously.
Can I just port over the PIXHACK PARAM to the H743 with V4.7?
Or are there any recommended steps before the transfer and I dismantle the current configuration.
It’s worth starting over and retuning with the latest firmware. There have been countless changes in the past decade that probably mean your current configuration is pretty suboptimal.
I really think it’s worthwhile to do so. You sound comfortable with the process. Refer to the documentation, and have a look at the ArduPilot Methodic Configurator. Its interface isn’t quite my cup of tea, but the method is sound. Check out the software, and if it doesn’t suit you, follow the method on your own.
