Posting here because I can’t think of anywhere else it fits…
I’ve come across a number of threads where some brilliant guys have converted their zero turn remote operated utilizing servos
I’m looking to accomplish much the same but I am looking to do it as a direct application where I can run the mower from a joystick instead of levers while operating the machine (because I want to).
It seems relatively doable utilizing some DC servos to operate the linkages and then finding a way to power those servos via a microcontroller which then receives inputs from the joystick however that is where I begin to get out of my depth and am looking for a little assistance
- servos need to be setup in such a way that I can override them while riding in the event something fails - how do I accomplish this?
- what is the consideration for powering the servos from the 12v system of the mower which then is likely stepped down to 5V for an Arduino or does the Arduino accept 12v (I’m finding some conflicting info on this) and will the power fluctuations caused by an automotive power system affect this?
I’m sure I’ll have more but I’m starting here as I dive into the planning
Thanks in advance.
