Plane 4.6.0 beta

If you need someone to test firmware. I can with the heewing fx-405 v2 target. Or matek f405 TE bdshot

@Allister @Squirrel5 I think this one line change may fix it:

here is a MatekF405-TE-bdshot build with the change for testing
http://uav.tridgell.net/tmp/plane-MatekF405-TE-bdshot-knocking-fix.apj

Still making noise in manual mode, and the controller crashed in FBWA.

Edit: The controller crashing isnā€™t a firmware problem. My power supply was browning out during the transition to FBWA.

Do you know if ths noise only happens with F4 based Flight controllers? I wonder if a h743 based FC has this issue.

@Rolf flies a H743 based VTOL, question is if that one uses bdshot and eventually bluejay.

Correct, but I didnā€™t notice anything on the H743 wlite with a small tilt VTOL (Dshot/BLHELI_32). But that doesnā€™t mean anything, because it may be due to the fact that the small VTOL is very fast, small and quiet, the weather cold and windy, and the VTOL is already so far away directly after the transition that I can no longer hear motor noises. Unfortunately, the digital FPV transmitters have no sound transmission. But Iā€™ll try to reproduce it tomorrow on the workbench.

I have just done the following test run on the workbench with a matek H743 wlite/ Tritilt VTOL / ap 4.6.0beta4 / dshot 600: For the sake of simplicity (and safety) I only connected the fuselage and controlled the rear motor as motor 2 instead of motor 4. For once, the propeller stayed on, I held the fuselage with goggles and gloves and turned up the throttle to about 80% in Manual, FBWA and QSTABILIZE. I didnā€™t notice any difference in the running noise.

Rolf

Addendum: On a recently completed quad-tilt VTOL with F765-wing (now EOL) and dshot 150 on the workbench, the knocking can clearly be heard in FBWA or MANUAL, but not in QSTABILIZE.

we have a few significant fixes pending for 4.6.0-beta5. They will be discussed on the dev call next week, but Iā€™d really appreciate some testing of them before that if possible.
Iā€™ve setup a tag on the custom build server so you can build the changes for any board now.

the above example if for building for the MatekF405-TE-bdshot, but you can select any board. Make sure you select the plane460-beta5-test tag.
If anyone has time to test this special custom build tag then please do and report back, no matter the result weā€™d like to see the log.

Hi Andrew can, you post the link. ā€œIā€™ve setup a tag on the custom build server so you can build the changes for any board now.ā€

this will do it, then select a Plane build and the plane460-beta5-test tag from the list

I was able to fly the H743 wlite today in 30 kmh winds and gusts with 4.6.0 beta 5-test, briefly but without any problems. Logfile H743wlite_plane460-beta5-test_flight.bin in the linked folder below. I didnā€™t want to take off with the not yet good adjusted (after conversion from 4-1 to tilt-quad) Z84-WingWing with F765-wing fc. On the workbench, however, the knocking noises have disappeared! Small video ā€œsound.mp4ā€.

thanks Rolf, much appreciated!

The issue with MIS_OPTIONS = 2 being treated as BIT 2 (ContinueAfterLand) is still present.
Iā€™ll send you the log via email.

Today I flew the 4.6.0 beta 5-test firmware with a Z84 (FC matek F765-wing) conversion to quad tiltrotor. The flight was successful, although I had forgotten to reactivate the preflight check after testing on the workbench. As a result, I had not noticed that the airspeed sensor was not activated (the flight was actually intended to calibrate the sensor). As a result, the transition was ended later than necessary and Q_ASSIST was triggered several times. But the VTOL flew stable, although no autotune or Q-autotune had been run in the tilt quad conversion. The PID values are still from the 4-1 quad setup.

Addendum: In my opinion, the attitude control works perfectly under these circumstances. Video: beta5testZ84

Log on bench. Not much but i hope it helps

Does ardupilot support tbs lucid f4 freestyle FC? Not the pro veraion but rhe freestyle one.
Regards

Dave posted something about that, I would say, no luck.

But in the ardupilot page states both freestyle/pro, doesnt it?

In contrast to what TBS says in their manual, their shop advertises the CPU as Artery AT32F435, so again no luck. The HWDef page liked by Dave must show some obsolete revision of that FC.

See the follow-up post:

So there is no way it actually work either with pro or freestyle lucid versions?
