I’ve been using Plane 4.0 without any issue. It’s time to update to a new version and I’ve started to test Plane 4.3 using SITL. During testing, I found that after downloading the initial onboard log through mavlink using Mission Planner, no new onboard logs or “.bin” files are generated in the SITL folder after arming (\Mission Planner\sitl\plane\logs). In Plane 4.0 this does not happen and new “bin” files are generated once the onboard log is downloaded and the aircraft armed.
I managed to force the creation of new bin files by enabling arming_checks. However, if this option is not enabled, it can lead to the loss of flight data. I do multiple flights and I download the onboard logs just after disarming and flight again. If I do this in the new Plane versions, I basically will loss flight data given that no new “bin” files are generated. I tested also Plane 4.1 and 4.2 with the same results.
I’d like to know if this is a feature or if there is an issue with the on board logs.
