This is going to seem like a crazy noobish question, but I wanted to make sure we are setting this thing up correctly. We just received our X8, and had a question about attaching the props. When you attach
the propellers, do the above and below props BOTH have their writing face UP? The reason I ask is that when you insert the little plastic washer into the props, the recess for the metal washer to hold it onto the motor is only on one side (opposite of where the plastic washer is inserted), so the lower props (if the writing faces up) don’t have the metal washer sitting in the recess. The instructions say “the writing should face the sky” but given you have to flip the copter to put the lower props on, this was a BIT confusing (combined with the recess).
Hi jgrn307,
All propellers are to be mounted with it’s writing up. The lower motors point down but the props still face up. the spacer is primarily used to prevent the hub screws from coming all the way out if they are shaken loose. This is to help prevent from loosing drive shaft. The inner ring you inserted into the propeller can be held by the hub/nut or if you wish purchase a very thin washer and place it between the bottom of prop and prop hub/nut.
Both above and below propellers should be always have the writing facing towards the sky.
On the below propellers first insert the smaller diameter propeller ring, place the propeller facing up, then place the washer over the propeller and finally secure it with a nut.
