Hi, I have just pulled the FC from my rover which was set up and working fine so I could put in an FC with more PWM outputs and I cannot get any response from the steering
Its not a wiring issue, I can get the steering to function if I set the channel to Rc Passthrough but when set to ground steering, nothing.
The rover is a traditional car type setup, this has to be a config issue but I have been unable to figure it out by myself and finally forced to ask for help.
Please could someone point me towards what is causing this?
Hi Steve, as you don’t show any details it is hard to help.
Mainly describe your setup in detail including showing which FC you are using and show all your parmeter.
As I understood your old FC did the job well than you only have to setup the new FC in a corresponding way.
its an entirely stock new flash of rover to a new FC, no parameter changes at all yet, no point setting up further till I can get steering functioning.
I have gone from an omnibus F4 Pro which was all set up and the vehicle working great and now installed a speedybee F405 Wing for the additional PWM outputs, there is a setting somewhere that is preventing steering from functioning but I dont know what, I know it can talk to the steering servo and a config issue rather than physical as if set to Rc passthrough it will function as mentioned above.
Interesting, I tried setting my mode from Manual to Steering (I guess that is the same as GroundSteering?) . It declined the flight mode change due to failsafe active although manual works.
Admittedly I’m pretty much a ardupilot newb so not really sure what all the modes do or how they work.
No. Steering mode is a specific mode of operation Steering Mode.
Groundsteering is a Servo Output function.
Read thru the Rover docs as you will need to know what modes are available. You will need to use Acro Mode for example so you should know how it functions.
Here is the param file, tell a lie when I said its entirely default settings, I did configure a lidar on the bench before I installed the FC into the vehicle as its a new lidar I want to use so tested it but its irrelevant to this issue anyway but forgot about that till just now.
I have so much setting up to do, I am not a complete noob when it comes to ardupilot and I have tried looking at the parameters to figure out whats wrong before asking for help but I am stumped, its going to be a simple single parameter and a face palm Im sure.
I cant copy the config from the Omnibus F4 pro to the speedybee F405 Wing can I? I thought being different boards with significantly different ability’s that it would cause problems?
