New flight mode "GPS Disable"

what exactly does this do ?
I cannot see any difference.
Also there is no feedback (flight mode display) in MP or QGC.

I guess you mean the switch to disable GPS? That one if to test what happens when GPS stops working. It does that by literally stopping reading GPS information. This is for testing/debugging purposes only.

OK, I might have a misunderstanding here.

After reading
Copter: add indoor mode to disable GPS (and maybe compass). #1152
I thought the intention was to add some kind of indoor mode where gps reception is bad.

There are already indoor modes using optical flow, and/or pozyx, marvelmind, vicon… etc
