Motor chatter while arming not when I use motor test feature

I am doing some bench testing on a quad and when I arm it and ramp up the power to 50% the motors chatter really bad, the odd thing is it doesn’t do this when on the motor test tab and testing all motors at 50%. I changed the timing on the blheli suite but that didn’t help. No props installed.

You are not supposed to test the motors like that. You are supposed to use the motor test tab of mission planner, nothing else.

This has been discussed and dissected many times in this forum already.

Understood, I searched but probably didn’t type in the correct search words.

Thanks.

Here is what I am dealing with, Motor chatter/vibration.

The 4 in 1 esc is set to dshot 150, motor test feature doesn’t cause this.

Props are on but I’m not lifting off, don’t plan on it anytime soon.

Props are balanced. I read this post (as well as others) Stuttering motors (or vibration?) and GPS glitch - #4 by dkemxr

So I backed my PID’s down to bascially zero just to see if it changed anything, nothing.

Reset your pids to the defaults.

Check the number of magnets on your motors. I see you have SERVO_BLH_POLES,24. I don’t know exactly what brand of motors you have but all I found to match was the SunnySky and the website says it has 28 poles.

Thanks for catching that, I will update. Should I change both of the below?
Whats the difference in these 2?
SERVO_BLH_POLES
SERVO_FTW_POLES

No, just change the BLH poles.

FTW are for FETtec ESCs. You’re running BLHeli so the FTW params are not applicable.

Changed the PID’s back and changed the poles to 24, not any better. I will continue to read the forums.

Stop reading the forums and start using the methodic configurator.

Do these look normal?
