Mixing a 3DR v1 and v2 radios?

Hello all,
I have a 3DR v1 telemetry set running on a fixed-wing and I purchased a 3DR X8 last year and it has the 3DR v2 telemetry set.

My question is, can I use the 3DR v2 telemetry to communicate with the v1 in the fixed-wing?

they should work fine together, just update the firmware on the radios

So I should connect to the v1’s in Mission Planner and run the update firmware and then they will be able to talk to each other? Or is there a firmware update for both versions?
