I mean, coming in this from way, the ardupilot.com, it might not be totally evident that the DIY legacy hardware wiki is the place to look for info about the joystick feature… hm?

Anyway, you are right, the info does exist in documentation. AND the Joystick button is quite visible in the MP config/tuning tab.
Encouraging, it appears the features built into the joystick option are quite advanced
