I did all that too. Apparently, it’s because qgroundcontrol is causing problems. Everything works fine on my Windows computer with Mission Planner.
It looks like it’s due to qgroundcontrol on the Mac book. Everything works fine on Linux. That took me two days of troubleshooting.
