I am building a delta wing aircraft that will be dropped from an RC airplane and glide down to the ground using ArduPlane and Mission Planner. I am wanting the “mission” (meaning the initiation of the glide to the ground) to begin only once the glider is dropped from the RC airplane. I was thinking I could connect a magnetic reed switch to the flight controller, so when the glider is dropped, the magnetic reed switch will turn from open to closed and trigger the flight controller to begin the decent to the ground. Is this something I can do?
I have a Speedybee F405 Mini flight controller.
I am very new to the ardupilot/RC world and have tried to find a solution but cannot find information on triggered inputs into a flight controller.
If there is any other information needed I can provide it.

Ardupilot supports button input but other than switching to AUTO when a button is pressed it isn’t possible with F405 board (you can use the same pin to also trigger motor interlock using second button). The slung plane should be armed on the ground.
