Ideas for ArduRover kit for kids?

My 6yo has been watching me experiment with e-gliders and multirotors since he was born, and is now starting to tear apart his cheap RC monster truck and brainstorm on new configurations, and he now wants to connect it to a laptop and “change the software”. So I think it’s time to map my ArduPlane experience to a land-based kit with my son. I searched this topic for “kids” and “kit” and didn’t see anything apropos. I did order this RC excavator on Amazon, but that’s not a kit for learning, just a toy for playing. I am looking for a good rover kit that we can build a basic vehicle, but also use its elements in a creative lego-like innovation, each time being goverened by ArduRover. Maybe add sensors, have it map out the house floor plan, put a companion Pi on it for some openCV experiments, etc. Prefer not to build kit from scratch. Any suggestions appreciated.

I’ve put Rover on a Thunder Tiger Toyota Hilux and it works OK. The suspension is a little weak though…

I don’t have a ton of other ideas…
