2x 18650 cells are around 90g
the v2 ultralight I built is around 60g
your speaker is around 50g
so its theoretically possible, would expect it to fly for at least 45 minutes, even using cheaper v1 parts it should get 35 minutes .

Thanks a lot!
I assume you mean this: 250g endurance quadcopter
Yes I will use lighter parts. But making this frame and mounts is so above my skills and my equipment. So I think I will find someone in my country (Poland), who would be able to make the frame and print mounts. Basically this person or company would assemble the whole thing without speaker, so less fun for me, but I prefer fun from flying it later.
Unless you could offer not very high price for doing this? You are perfect candidate obviously and it seems like you enjoy doing things like this, so maybe I could somehow afford rates of service done by someone from UK. Also I want to have O4 air unit, so mounts would have to be different. Of course I would pay for everything in advance, it’s not a scam, I have small gigs waiting. I’m interested in what do you think.
Another idea one of my friend had is to land the drone in some not visible place, turn off props and observe who doesn’t clean his dogs poop. When caught, the drone would start following this person and lecturing them. This could become a viral, of course a face of this person would be censored.
My point is that I really, really want this drone ![]()
Sorry if my question was inappropriate, I have another one, about the drone only this time. By the way, now I see that your build isn’t 250g, but lower, about 200g with smaller capacity 21700 batteries. And since about 30 minutes flight time would be enough for me, then I have a lot of room under 250g. Before that I was counting each gram thinking that I have that much weight for my speaker what I saved by using 18650. So I even didn’t realize that this build is PERFECT for me. 10g frame is extremely great to show off how light it is and look of your drone fits so much my purpose, talking drone that maybe went rogue or something.
Question about engines and power to them, you picked 6A ESC, but engines can get more power than 1.5A, am I right it could be beneficial to correct wind blows and the drone would be faster if focus isn’t on a long flight time? So I could use ESC with more amperes, ESC you proposed cuts power of these engines, is that correct?
PS. I have found a guy interested in making your frame construction who is carbon fiber construction veteran, for RC planes too, so I’m good when it comes to making the frame.
ESC ampacity is specified per channel so there is a plenty of margin.
That rating is 6A per motor, using higher rated ESCs is fine its just unnecessary weight.
To get it down to 210g its not just the frame, its using an all in one flight controller with escs, receiver and flight controller built in. The lightest 25mw analogue camera, 2mm battery connector, even the balance wires on the battery were changed down to 1.0mm connectors. You won’t be able to just take that build add a speaker and dji video system, you will need to use a smaller 18650 to compensate for the heavier electronics.
Are you really wanting to run this speaker at full power? How many watts is this? Maybe you can make do with a smaller one saving more weight but utilising it’s full power. 1W is surprisingly loud but outdoors, you may need a bit more.
Speaker is 5 watts. This speaker works well and is tested, the new one I would have to uncase and possibly lose guarantee and return this way. But I realized that I have a lot of room for extra weight, so exact weight of the speaker isn’t a concern now.
I know. I’m really impressed, seriously. I just thought that weight in the title is actual and I haven’t seen you mentioning weight in your post. I became not sure when you wrote that 2x 21700 is 65% of the drone weight. But when it comes to flight time, each gram is really important.
I knew that, but thinking this drone weights 249g, making it lighter thanks to switching to 18650 was maybe enough, but really tight. Now I have about 30g of room (I added some weight for not the lightest parts, but cheaper), which is absolutely great. Now I can add for example some holder for batteries making them easy and quick to swap. I think I will wrap them in shrinking foil and make packs instead of replacing them one by one. Single 18650 original Samsung 3400 mAh costs here about 2.50 GBP, so I can have very cheaply a lot of replacement packs, which is great. I need to look for some savings, because a price of O4 module is about 4x of decent receiver and camera, but I have DJI goggles and controller and also I want to have high quality videos and photos, so O4 it is.
Thanks for all the replies, I think I know all I needed and I hope I won’t have to bother you again with my newbie questions.
