LoL, so this is why it is called “prompt engineering”
.
I finally got around to replacing the defective motor on the V2 ultralight and it’s beyond my wildest dreams. It had only done a quick hover when I first built it and I found one of the motors were defective so it had only been in the air for a few seconds up til today. When I changed the motor I got the old 6000mah pack that I charged up probably 4 months ago and done a test hover indoors in alt hold mode.
And it done this!!
1 HOUR 26 MINUTES!!
This was with GPS, fpv and mission planner connected over MLRS.
Next step is to get the new 6250mah pack welded together and get an outdoor test flight I think 1 hour 40 minutes is a real possibility, total weight is around 210g.
Turns out this AIO board does have current monitoring. it was consuming around 3.9a at takeoff then around 5.2 when it was landing. im not sure how accurate it is but it says it consumed 6.08ah.
25-26W power draw is pretty impressive, what FPV are you using?
Simply an amazing project. btw there’s a new 6500mah cell, bak 65e,from online tests seems like it should last around 10% more than the vapcell 6000mah for a 5A load, I don’t have the data for lower current draw.
It’s just a little 25mw AIO camera
i had a look but i cant find anywhere selling them.
I done another flight but this time outdoors and it got 1 hour 26 again, I landed at 2.40v per cell
It’s a little wobbly due to very relaxed pid but once it got a decent satellite lock it just sat there.
I just noticed in the video it indicates that its only using 26W!.
Amazing, Geo! Can you post the parts for this build? You might have posted it earlier and I have probably missed the bus.
Also, did you mean raw-voltage while still flying or resting voltage?
That was raw voltage, it came back up to 2.8v after landing so it could have probably gone a few more seconds. It sat for a while waiting for a GPS fix and the battery was just over 4.1v when i started, so if I overcharged it a little to 4.25 or 4.3v and run it down a little lower and use a USB battery while it gets a fix it should add another minute or so.
mavic mini 3 pro motors and 6 inch propellers
JHEMCU GSF405A AIO flight controller running ardupilot, bluejay and mlrs. the -BMI version wont run ardupilot it has to be the original one.
GOKU GM10 Nano V3 GPS w/compass
25mw AIO camera
ultra light 6mm carbon tube
titanium motor screws.
2x 21700 6000mah cells in a 2S configuration.
Nice but I guess the capacity definitely takes a hit after two or three discharges below 2.7V or something although only by a 100mAh or so.
Which cells did you use again? LittoKala? EDIT: I see it was VapCell from your first post
I have 2x 6250mah cells to try next, it’s only an extra 3% but that should be an extra 2 or 3 minutes so 1 hour 30 minutes should be possible. There are also 6500mah cells but I cant find anywhere that sells them yet.
Are you looking for these?
nice, that’s exactly what im looking for.
I ordered 2 to test, I just finished spot welding and soldering the 6250mah pack so I will test it soon to see how much it improves over the 6000mah then move to the new 6500mah.
Someone was asking why the altitude doesn’t make sense, basically I was flying around in althold while it got GPS fix, I wasn’t sure if the GPS worked at all or if it would get a fix next to the building and I didn’t have time to wait as it was going to get dark. Because It’s got its home position while in the air its home altitude is set to its current altitude. I will re-enable arming checks next flight and wait for 3d fix before takeoff so it should be accurate.
