Home ALT above sea level is off

This has been another thing that seems much more “off” than it used to be… the ALT works fine, but I would like the actual altitude to be better.

what is this parameter

ground temperature (GND_TEMP)
calibrated ground temperature in degrees Celsius

Increment: 1

and can I change it to better get the correct sea level altitude? right now it’s set at some very high temp like 35 C . I am pretty sure its not 95F inside the APM enclosure in my house… ambient in my house is about 68F

thanks

Good question! I’d like to know the answer too.

This value is automatically set each time you boot by reading the temperature sensor in the barometer. The reason it is higher than you expect is the electronics are usually warmer then the surrounding air.
Regarding altitude reporting, the code reports two types of altitude, one is barometric relative to where you booted and is automatically temperature compensated. The other is GPS altitude, which is the altitude in the WGS84 datum (close to meters above sea level).
