GSOC 2026 Project Proposal - Direct support for IOT technology in Ardupilot

Hello everyone, I’m Khaled Abdsalame, a computer Science and Automation student with approximatel 2.5 years of experience in C/C++. I have a strong interest in embedded systems and IoT, as I have a graduation project that I’m working on registering as a startup this year, and it relies directly on IoT. I’d like to express my strong interest in the GSOC program, as I have a fantastic idea: direct support for IoT technology within the Autopilot software. This would allow the software to support protocols like MQTT and CoAP, facilitating seamless integration with the cloud. This would enable smooth access to Vehicle data and seamless control via the cloud,Regarding the technical aspects, the mentor will provide me with sufficient information about the source code for developing a new ArduPilot model that supports direct IoT communication protocols(The system will first collect vehicle information and send it via HTTP/MQTT to the cloud. Vehicles can then be controlled and operated remotely using the cloud via these protocols.) This project aims to facilitate control and access to information across multiple. If my idea isn’t approved, I can contribute one of your previously suggested ideas: Real-Time Companion-Computer Health Monitoring & Failsafe, or ArduHumanoid (ArduPilot controlling a simple humanoid). Given my previous experience, if my idea is approved, I’m fully prepared to implement it. If not, I’m also ready to demonstrate my capabilities in working on one of your suggested ideas.
