GPS reported error but stats are good

Hi, I have M10 GPS running on Matek F405-WING v2 mounted on an aluminium boom on a 450 size helicopter.

I get error message ‘Unhealthy GPS signal’ but it’s got 18 sats and HDOP of 0.71, position on map is spot on as well.

GPS_AUTO_CONFIG,1
GPS_AUTO_SWITCH,1
GPS_DRV_OPTIONS,0
GPS_HDOP_GOOD,240
GPS_INJECT_TO,127
GPS_MIN_ELEV,-100
GPS_NAVFILTER,8
GPS_PRIMARY,0
GPS_RAW_DATA,0
GPS_SAVE_CFG,2
GPS_SBAS_MODE,2

Can somebody advise what is the problem please?
Thank You
Steve

What is the update rate? If it is below 5Hz then the signal is Unhealthy.

Where do i find update rate? I’ve looked but can’t find it :slightly_smiling_face:

Need to check the GPS* message time intervals in the .bin log files.

So it looks like my rate is too slow..

I’ve increase to 100mS (10Hz) using GPS1_RATE_MS and I’ll try that this afternoon.

Thank you for your help guys, much appreciated

Steve

Usually the solution is not to reduce GPS1_RATE_MS but to reduce the number of tracked satellite constellations.

But do tell us the results.

As @amilcarlucas suggests that will typically make things worse. Which M10 module is it?

The GPS is a Foxeer M10Q 250 5883 Compass GPS M10 Chip

You guys were correct, I still got the ‘unhealthy’ message and no change here…

even though GPS1_RATE_MS = 100

Should I know restrict what it’s looking for using GPS1_GNSS_MODE ? being in the UK my (INAV) choice is usually GPS, GLONASS, Galileo

Thanks
Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

Set the rate back to 200msec and try only 2 constellations. GPS and Galileo I suppose for you.

I assume you are referring to the message being displayed by GCS? Or do you have evidence in the flight log as well?

Will do, but I don’t have access to the ‘copter again until mid-next week, I’ll report back then.

Thanks
Steve

The ‘unhealthy’ message is seen on the MP screen

The rate was pulled from the log .bin file

Please post a log when you are able to connect to the fc
