Is anyone able to advise what the GPSx_GNSS_MODE: GNSS system configuration value I should set for the drone to fly in Jambi City, Indonesia? I do not base there; the collaboration work requires the drone to fly there.
Which GPS unit are you using and is it having any difficulties?
I would probably keep GPSx_GNSS_MODE: 0 (all) unless I was having issues or if the manufacturer recommended a particular setting.
- GNSS System Support: GPS L1 /CA; GLONASS L10F; BeiDou B1L/B1C; Galileo E1B/C; QZSS L1 C/A/S; SBAS L1 C/A; 3 constellations concurrent.
I agree, I’d leave it set to all unless there’s an issue. An M10 like that shouldn’t need any changes.
On the linked info for your unit, if you go to the “GPS Tutorial” tab and scroll to the bottom, step 5. states:
" At this point, the GPS has been set up and can be tested outdoors in an open environment. It is worth noting that starting from firmware 4.3.2, Ardupilot will force some configurations on M10: turning off the use of BeiDou B1L/GLONASS/SBAS. These configurations are solidified in the code and cannot be modified by parameter settings."
Apart from this, it doesn’t mention anything about the GNSS settings, so I’m sure leaving GPSx_GNSS_MODE: 0 (all) will likely give you the best results.
The reason I ask is that AMC would suggest setting it (12_gnss.param).
Default for an M10 based module is almost certainly best. For others, it’s sometimes advisable to reduce the number of constellations. The M10 already operates on a reduced subset by default.
