Geotag images taken by Siyi gimbal/cameras

im new to all this, can you just answer is shortly for me, do SIYI cameras support georef ? if yes to which extent, and whats the process

Yes, the jpg images stored when images are taken include EXIF data in them which gives the lat, lon, alt of the vehicle at the moment the picture was taken.

Just be sure to use ArduPilot-4.6.x and ensure the camera is running the latest firmware from Siyi. Setup instructions are here on the wiki.

We’ve also got the mount-poi lua script that allows calculating the lat,lon,alt of what the camera gimbal is pointing at.

@SIYI @rmackay9 It is partially fixed, unless I am overlooking any causes contributing to the remaining geotagging issue. The reported MSL(?) altitude in the geotagged image is about 90m off. The photo is reporting an altitude about 300’ above ground while the drone was on the ground, using a Holybro F9P RTK GPS onboard the drone. Do you have any ideas as to what could be causing this altitude discrepancy?

I think it would be best to determine if it is a camera issue or an ArduPilot issue. If you could use MP’s status screen and then check what the reported altitude-above-sea-level is (aka “altasl”), then take a picture and confirm whether both show the same number of not (and whether it is correct) then will help clarify where the issues is coming from.

The altasl altitude and metadata altitude are matching after I last reported the discrepancy between the two different altitude values. Nothing was changed, as far as I was aware. I have been remotely representing the user of said drone.

However, the altitude reported in both places will fluctuate up to a dozen meters or more (one instance of 18m) while the drone has been stagnant in a single story house with no surrounding structures or trees.

It also seems to change altitude each time it is rebooted or powered on after hours or days of being unplugged.

Long story short, I think this issue is solved, but I will report back if this proves not to be the case after the altitude values are compared when the drone is outside on a couple of separate occasions within the next few days.
