Frame Type Showing "Plus" but is set to X

Hello!

I am having a weird issue with Mission Planner and Ardupilot. I’m pretty new to the Ardupilot thing but have worked with Px5 a fair bit. This is my first build on my own.

I have Frame Class and Frame Type set to “Quad” and “X” however it seems to show my quad as a “Plus” in the Data tab and shows my heading as roughly 45 degrees off. Can’t seem to figure out how to fix this. I have calibrated my compass probably 30 times. I’ve tried several different open fields and nothing. I think the mag is just showing off because it thinks its point a different direction. I have not gotten to motor order/direction yet. I am using a

TBS Lucid H7
GEPRC 80A 4in1
GEP=EF10 Frame (True X)

Any ideas?

Ignore that. You could have a Dodecahexa-X and it will show the same frame graphic.
Move along with configuration.

haha, Excellent. Thank you for the help.
So the issue with the compass heading showing consistently 45 degrees to the right is a different thing?

Maybe. Elaborate on how you are seeing this and why you think it’s off. What GPS module do you have?

My heading is always pointing 45 degrees to the right of where my drone is facing. I guess I am too new to know where to look or how to trouble shoot it. To me it seems like an orientation thing because its consistently off by 45 after any calibrations.

If I point my drone directly north and check data it shows it is pointing north east. It is a HGLRC m100 Pro.

It could be nothing. Are you performing the compass calibration outside after getting a GPS lock? Many things can interfere with the compass when inside. You will be doing a Magfit compass calibration anyway once it’s flight capable. But, post a photo of the craft anyway if you like, perhaps there is something to see.

Ah okay. Onto something.

While I can confirm I was outside (test field is a kilometer away from any buildings)
I can’t confirm for sure that I waited for 3d fix each time. I will try this and report back. I will post a before and after picture.

Also post a screenshot of what you think is displaying in error on Mission Planner.

Awesome. Calibrating after waiting for 3D fix (37 Sats) I was able to get an ultra clean calibration. Heading is now perfectly accurate. However. After calibration It deduced that my GPS is actually Yaw90. I’m not sure how or why this is.
Picture 1 shows drone and GPS setup and orientation. Lights on GPS are pointing towards the front of the quad just for reference.
Picture 2 is of my heading after calibration. which is correct.
Picture 3 is what I’m confused about. Why would it be Yaw90?

Because the compass chip is mounted in the GPS board with a YAW 90 orientation.
