FPV Radio Telemetry Ground & Air Modules on MacOS M4 w/ APM Planner in 2025!

I will basically copy paste my comment as a post, just in case.

So here it goes:

On my Mac 15.3.1 OS X I still get the issue… Here are some pictures to give you context:

Everything seems to be in order, but to no avail. It doesn’t want to recognise my Cube Orange Plus no matter what I do.

The Cube Orange Plus is flashed with Ground Rover Firmware. When I connect it to my laptop through a USB cable, I can interact with it.

I have all the drivers necessary (or at least I believe so), but still nothing is going my way…

What am I doing wrong here?

I hope that someone can see my hopefully silly error, and fix it…

I know that @timtuxworth, @drnic use a Mac for sure, so maybe you 2 are knowlegdeable about this?

Thank you for your time in advance!

A comment was given to me, regarding my usage of QGS, and basically, I said it was completely useless.

He also asked me about my antenna. I will install it tomorrow as I don’t have it, but I think it should’ve worked either way, right?

It will work without the antenna at that range, but it’s not good for the radio. You run the risk of overheating or damaging the power amplifier in the radio if there is no antenna to address the load.

I see. I will try and get my hands on an antenna tomorrow. But still, the issue stands, do you perhaps have another clue? Are you maybe using a mac for this type of work?

It’s an older Mac, but yes I have used it with SiK radios, RFD900 radios, and various wifi connections. That’s why I suggested QGC.

Ah, then I’ll try again, and give you screenshots, maybe you’ll see something that I perhaps don’t…

Here is what I get in my QGS:

Does anything here give you any insights, or am I just f***ed… Thank you in advance

The “permission error” is a clue I’m sure.

I’ll try on my Mac when I get home tonight and see how I’ve got it configured and get back to you.

I’m connected via a SiK radio to a quad via QGC on my macbook.

I have no comm-links set up on this install (nothing relevant anyhow) and AutoConnect is turned on for everything.

Anything here help:

@Allister This is what I see in my System Information:

Anything out of the ordinary here?

Also, your 2nd screenshot is the same as mine…

Did you ever have to setup Comm Links? If so, then could you perhaps share that as well?

Right now, I am also trying to find anything related to that Permission thing…

But thank you so far nonetheless!

Additional information is that QGC is giving me the following error:

“Error on link X. Error Connecting: Could not create port. Permission error while locking this device”

What could this possibly mean?

Also, my QGC is 4.4.0, because at the time of writing this, 4.4.4 is having some strange bugs and crashes…
