Founding Engineer (embedded/PX4) - early-stage aerial camera platform, equity, Austin TX

Building FieldLine at Hawkline Inc., an aerial camera system bringing dynamic aerial coverage to high school athletics and live events (think: the gap between SkyCam and Hudl). Pre-revenue, hardware bring-up stage, moving toward first flight test.

Core scope for this role:

  • STM32 flight/power controller firmware bring-up
  • Flight-stack integration across the avionics stack (Jetson companion computer + Pixhawk 6X)
  • Power system safety architecture and validation support

Currently building on PX4/ROS2/uXRCE-DDS, but the proprietary system-level work lives on the companion computer side, not the flight-stack itself, so I’m open to ArduPilot if the right person’s depth is there instead. More interested in real hands-on bring-up and debugging experience than which stack it’s in.

I’m mechanical/electrical (20+ years defense/aerospace/robotics), building this solo so far. Looking for someone to go deep on firmware specifically, not take over the technical side generally.

2-5% equity to start (Founding Engineer), potential path to Technical Co-Founder at 10% if it’s a real fit. 4-yr vest, 1-yr cliff. Austin, TX, hybrid.

Reach out if interested, no pressure, happy to just talk shop first.
