Flight Modes performance without EKF

Is it possible to fly without NavEKF? (AHRS_EKF_TYPE=0). Which fight modes are more safe to fly only with DCM, GPS and barometer for multirotors?

I don’t think its possible on copter, you can use DCM only on plane.
