When Ardupilot auto trims the ailerons I end up with both of them deflected up, one more than the other. Ive set differential by setting min & max. I think that’s the correct way? All directions are correct and the plane flies in manual and auto modes. Im not using the DSPOILER parameter as I think its for complex wings?
Its not ideal having the both up a bit, limiting Cl max.
Any suggestions?
It may have something to do with the airspeed sensor and automatic flaps. If you have non-symmetric throws up/down, I would assume trims end up in the middle, sort of reflex.
I run flaperons on the sub250g Drift, no airspeed sensor, no automatic flaps, just flaps by RC channel.
In my case only aileron trims are visible in the result, no parallel deflection for flaps.
One is slightly up, the other down, so I assume the foam wings are slightly bent from production.
I dont use auto flaps or any sort of low speed flaps, its auto trim. Its supposed to figure out if a bit of aileron is required to keep level and move the trim center a bit but I think my way of setting differential is upsetting it. I dont know any other way to set it.
I assume, with the same throw in both directions, trims will end up centered.
You could try with automatic flaps, maybe up to the reflex you want.
DSPOILER is a feature for yaw control without rudder but with two control surfaces on each wing, real flaps inside down, flaperons outside up as crow flaps.
There was a cool jet fighter YF-23 in the early 90’s which did that on a diamond shaped wing.
Yes probably.
I dont want any reflex, I just want the ailerons centered and if ardupilot wants a bit of aileron trim, I expect one to go up and the other down a bit.
