Dual GPS- second GPS not detected?

I’m using a Pixhawk 1 with mission planner 1.3.2 and AP 3.9.5,
two GPS’s, one BN880 on the regular gps port and the other BN280 on serial4/5, with serial 4 set to 38k, protocall 5,.serial5 set to 5 also.
Read up- on blending, etc
Auto- configure on both,
tried “best” and “blended”, no data.
Nothing in the horizon display about second GPS, (is there supposed to be?) so tried looking in the “quick” pane, but no data when I call GPSstatus2, gpshdop2, speed2, course2, etc
How to tell if it is seen by the pixhawk? or Is used for nav?
I humbly appeal to my betters for guidance!

have you set GPS_TYPE2 ? set it to 1 for auto detect

Thanks, Pete. Yes I did.
I may have found the problem- I’ll let you know in a couple hours. I assumed the supplied cable, which was an open-ended one- only one connector- matched pixhawk serial 4/5 socket direct. Perhaps not. Am making a new one.

That got it. New cable, a la pixhawk.
Both GPS’s work, pre-arm much easier. Got fooled because the other GPS- the BN 880- was wired correctly for the PIX, but this one was not.
Still no indication on the HSI window of second GPS.
Huge difference in time to lock, HDOP. #1-11 minutes! #2-40 sec. or so. Basically the same GPS board
Thanks again.
