Difference between X and V frame

Hello!

I was analyzing one of my older drones and it seemed that it had been flying in an X configuration but upon closer inspection, its more like a deadcat frame or V type. So my question is how do X and V differ in terms of control loop? And how much do the rear and front arms need to differ in order to be concidered a true V frame?

The thrust matrix shows about a 20% difference between the front and rear motors of a V frame. Unless the frame asymmetry approaches 20%, X is the better choice.

I think Deadcat style frames will generally be better off with an X frame type config. A .bin log of a simple hover could help prove that out for your specific application.
