UTC1102 - release update

  • Randy’s working on release notes
    • Several days so far
    • 2400 PRs total
    • 900 were done by AI
    • There are more PRs being merged all the time….
    • Maybe end of day today
    • AI is including more information (e.g. link to each PR)
    • PR by end of day
    • Please don’t be disappointed or angry if your work is not in the release notes
      • Ping Randy if you particularly want your work mentioned
      • There’s already 1000 lines in the release notes and some pruning required
      • But also things might just be missed
  • Maybe beta end of this week
  • Peter had two PRs he wants in before 4.7beta
    • Andy’s fence alt frame type
    • Trimble’s EAHRS PR
  • Randy’s got some parameter conversion PRs
  • RTL Alt final relative to terrain might be an issue that needs fixing

  • Add fast_boot bitmask parameter
  • People are uncomfortable with this
  • Don’t want two ways to two things
  • We are very skeptical of the DroneCAN thing
  • We want boot faster for everyone, not just people using this feature
  • Peter will do some analysis on what slows the boot process down the most
    • Measure then cut

  • Document param3 in NAV_TAKEOFF which ArduPilot supports
  • Allows the vehicle to take off in modes which don’t hold horizontal position
    • E.g. ALT_HOLD
  • Some discussion over wording
  • Peter will merge

UTC1148 - terrain data issue

  • Should we send out a user alert?
  • Git commit reference for the fix doesn’t make a lot of sense in this case
  • Requires further investigation
  • Randy doesn’t think it’s going to work
    • Issue is not related to an ArduPilot flight code issue
    • Doesn’t make sense to tie to a particular version of ArduPilot
    • Maybe the fix is the one that’s referenced
  • Do we need a 4.6.4 with the prearm failure in it?
  • We’ll need some sort of dry run
  • Let’s talk about it again next week
  • Would we have to provide patches for 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 too?
  • Maybe ask the partners what they think

  • Hunt0r will help out as unofficial mentor
  • Nate’s comfortable to do a couple of students
  • Any other DevTeam members interested in taking on a student?

UTC0005 - drone tow stuff

  • Ryan was accepted onto the committee, working on test plan
  • Testing glider/hang glider
  • Evaluating whether it can be done safely / waivers
  • If you have concerns then talk to Ryan
  • Someone has a system which may or may not be running ArduPilot
  • Need to know if this is something to encourage or discourage
