This is a post where everyone can share their insights, experiences, best practices and findings in drone/multirotor design and development, whether is about optimizing frame structures
I’ve ben designing multirotor of different categories for around 2 years, over this I’ve been developing generic frame such as quads, hexa and making them as light as possible using various composites and additive manufacturing techniques. Lately I’ve had some questions going on in my mind “what if we do this was, will it work or not”. Here are those questions:
Is it always necessary to have my rotors on the wheelbase of the multirotor, if not what are the considerations to be taken while design?
what are the best practices while designing a multirotor frame that you follow?
consider a quad, will it be ok if my forward motors are inverted and rear motors are normal/vice versa, is it must to have propellers in same plane, if not what are the considerations to be observed while designing?
what are the considerations while designing composite monocoque multirotor frames.
i will also update you guys on the best practices that i generally flow once this conservation is active
thats awesome great inputs,i already follow this same hardware practices which are mentioned while designing and developing a multirotor, but i still don’t get the answers for the questions that I posted which are from design perspective.
A Quick question apart from the topic above, what is the minimum distance that is to be maintained between propellers while building a coaxial system.
“maintained between propellers while building a coaxial system.” I came up with a neat system that I can stack motors basicly layout your motors with a space between for hardware.
@Anirudh_Ksp1 I think the ArduPilot Discuss forum mainly focuses on control systems. For design-related aspects, you should look for journal papers on coaxial propellers, such as CFD analysis and other relevant studies.
Even for me, the primary focus is ensuring there’s enough space between the prop tips, and from there, I design to meet the specific requirements. Thanks for the valuable insights, mate!
YES brandon, you’re absolutely right. There are good design blogs on this forums which ive been following & have been my roots, but couldn’t somehow find answers for somethings which hare behind my mind, anyways i hope this discussions get carried on further.
