Current measurement in Octoquad

HI, We are building an Octoquad X (Betaflight) and are using these components:

  • Kakute H7 V1.3.
  • 2 x F40 MK2 4IN1 40A ESC.
  • 2 x LiPo Battery 6500mAh, 120C.
  • 8 x X2212 Motors, 980KV.

We would like to know the current consumption of the two ESCs. The FC has only one current pin on the ESC connector, and the ESC does not TX pin.

In the LOGs file, we can read the current consumption, but we assume that this current consumption is only for the first ESC.

Is it necesary make some change in the Ardupilot Parameters?

You really need a 2nd battery monitor and then configure a 3rd to sum the 2. Is there a RSSI analog input pin on the FC? From the HWDEF it looks like there is on Pin 8 but not really sure with that version you have. And I’m not sure it will work but worth a try as one potential way to do it.

How do you have the batteries connected? There would be another way with a common Power Module.

These are my connections on motor group 1 and it is similar for motor group 2, where the only difference is that there is no Current wire.

Kakute H7:

The FC only has one current input in the first ESC connection.

F40 MKII 4IN1:

The ESC only sends information via CURR Pin

We use this connector tu connect the two batteries, we do not have battery monitor or power distribution :frowning:

Right. Is there an RSSI input?

Then get one. This is the easiest way.

Yes, it has RSSI pin:

Okey, We need get one battery monitor!

Then try what I suggested. Connect the 2nd ESC current pin to the FC RSSI input and configure Battery Monitor 2 with current pin 8 and see if you have a reading on battery monitor 2.
Or, go buy a power module.

we will try that option, thank you!!!
