Copter-4.6.1-beta1 released for beta testing

Copter-4.6.1-beta1 has just been released for beta testing and should be available for download within a few hours using MP (or QGC’s) “Beta firmwares” link on the Install Firmware page. Alternatively it can be downloaded (within a few hours) from firmware.ardupilot.org.

The changes are in the Release Notes and also copied below:

  1. Bug Fixes
  • Prevent firmware erasure on boards using flash for parameter storage
  • bootloaders rebuilt for H7 boards using flash for parameter storage

There is really just one change which should address an issue we’ve seen on autopilots with H7 processors that store their parameters in flash (as opposed to FRAM). On these autopilots there have been reports that the firmware may be wiped immediately after power on in some rare cases.

A fuller discussion of the issue can be found here.

Thanks in advance for any and all testing results!

Hi @rmackay9
I use a cube orange plus. Based on the bug fix description above, when this is released would I need to update both the bootloader and firmware? Or just the firmware? I haven’t seen this issue myself, so it may not even apply to a cube orange, not quite sure on that. Thanks!

CubeOrangePlus does have an FRAM

the CubeOrange (and other CubePilot flight controllers) are unaffected, so there is no change for those boards between 4.6.0 and 4.6.1
