Hello,
I am operating a rover in a vineyard and would like to work out the best way to pre-plan missions and load them without driving in the vineyard to physically record waypoints first. I have an ardusimple RTK gps which I can use to survey the vineyard and use this data in QGIS to create waypoints for a mission. I can export these waypoints as a kml, shp etc file. The image shown is a simple example of 4 a waypoint kml file created in QGIS and loaded into mission planner. However I can’t seem to convert these waypoints into mission waypoints.
Any advice/help is much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Stephen
I documented my process, not sure if it’s what you want, but may help.
I use sw maps and Google earth pro (free) to collect the gps waypoints and tidy them up, then use the process in the video to mow some grass.
And another with a bit of Google earth.
GE I use to manually draw the lines between the gps points before exporting them into mission planner as kml.
Thankyou Paul, your video’s have helped enourmously.
I couldn’t seem to download kml files that had been saved in QGIS into mission planner, the waypoints just seemed to be POI’s that were uneditable. But after seeing how you loaded the kml files from GE I tried loading the kml files (layers) I created in QGIS into GE, then saved them again as kml files from GE and I could then download them into mission planner as waypoints, which is what I wanted to do. QGIS is a handy GIS programme that allows me to use some CAD tools to create paths and measure accurate distances between waypoints and vines/trellis posts etc.
By the way, I use an app called Geo Tracker on our phone which we use to record our track when spraying vines etc. When used in conjuction with our ardusimple RTK gps it will record a very accurate set of waypoints which I can import into QGIS and use to create missions for the ardurover. eg
Thanks again for you help!
Kind Regards,
Stephen
