We are interested in measuring how fluid (air jetstream) affects the movement of an object like a ping pong ball that can hover. We want a way to measure this with high precision, a sampling rate up to about 1kHz or more, and without disturbing the flow itself. There are certainly other ways to measure acceleration data than IMU, but we like the precision provided compared to an optical method. But we are open to other suggestions as well.
We were wondering if there are any IMUs known that are small enough to fit easily on a ping-pong ball and somewhat light enough that the stream could still support the composition. So far in my search, this seems very hard to find since wireless data transmission or on-board storage adds more components and increases the size. I am very much open to hearing from your experience!
Thanks!
