Circling back to the Failed to update IO firmware.

I know there was another post on this, but reading the thread, it doesnt look like it was solved.

My quad was flying fine. I added an FPV camera to it, and now its no longer working. When I connect to the cube it shows
22/1/2026 12:41:56 : Config Error: Failed to update IO firmware 22/1/2026 12:41:56 : Config Error: fix problem then reboot 22/1/2026 12:41:51 : Config Error: Failed to update IO firmware

I have flashed the drive, wiped the sim card, downloaded rover to clean the program, then reinstall 4.6.3. I have tried to install a 4.5 version and no dice. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try holding down the safety switch while booting?

I have not been able to find one on this board. I have it programmed into the cube with an external button when it was flying originally.

It’s not on the board, connect and use the external one.

I know im going to sound idiotic here, but where is it located. I truly can’t t find one.

The input is found on the GPS1 port on the carrier. Which most commonly is found on the GPS module plugged into it if you have connected a module with a safety switch.

I’m so sorry. I misread your prior message. Ok yea. That’s what I have. I’ll give it a test. Thank you so much for your patience.

I tried the button wipe as recommended. No dice. I swapped it with another blue cube and that cube is working fine in the same cubepilot board.

The way I fixed this is to short the boot button and then power it. Both FMU and IOMCU status lights (amber) should be blinking. Then reinstall the firmware. I have a Pixhawk 2.4.8 and they made stuff simpler on the clones by making the boot button the same as the safety switch pin. Don’t know about cubes. You may have to open it up and short the correct pad.

Shift of events. I used qgroundcontrol. Installed PX4 vs the ardupilot software and currently am having no issues.

Yeah, QGC works perfectly for firmware installing whereas Mission Planner sometimes fails. I had to use QGC to upgrade to 4.6.3 from 4.6.2. You can now reinstall ArduPilot and it should work

Reinstalled the Ardupilot, and no dice.

Is the IOMCU status light solid amber?

I reinstalled the px software. its a solid yellow green.

Not sure about cubes. Does that color mean unresponsive iomcu?

It is the same color as when it was responsive or installed with the PX software. I am also severely colorblind, so Ill ask around for other opinions.

Post on the Cube Pilot forum.
