I have followed the instructions for channel 8 here
copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/how-to … uadcopter/
and got it to kind of work.
The channel 8 pwm values only vary from 992-1645 in the radio calibration page of mission planner.
As far as I can tell this value needs to hit at least 1800 for the function to trigger.
I have done the radio calibration and those are the values that I get.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried checking the limits page on your FlySky RC Controller?
On the main screen press the right arrow key until you get to the Limits (page 6/11), and scroll down to the CH8, you should have some settings like the next one:
CH8 0.0 - 100 [arrow] 100 —
Also on the Mixer page (5/11) scroll to the CH8, press Menu, choose Edit and then press Menu again, verify if the Weight parameter is at 100.
My limits show CH8 0.0 - 100 [arrow] 100 — as you describe.
My CH 8 Mix is as follows.
Source Full
Weight 100
Offset 0
Fix Offset Off
FlModetrim Off
Trim On
Curve (Blank)
Switch THR
Warning Off
Multpx Add
Delay Down 0
Delay Up 0
Slow Down 0
Slow Up 0
I am still getting the same results.
Any other ideas?
Thanks again.

Try using the right rear switch (the one that returns to the original position).
Check the Mixer page and go to Ch8, remove the THR from the Ch8 configuration and assign TRN instead,
did this helped?
Well now it seems to be working.
I updated mission planner and did the radio calibration again. Now I am getting a better spread in the values. I assigned flip to CH8 and all is good, except…
I was starting my descent after testing out flips when out of the blue the IRIS decided to flip on it’s own. Luckily I had plenty of altitude.
After review of the log I am seeing lots of noise on CH8. Needless to say I have taken flip off of CH8 while I try to figure this out.
Attached is my latest log file. If you graph CH8 in RCIN you can see the noise I am talking about.
I will try to map CH8 to another switch as stated above and see if that changes anything.
Any other ideas?
