where i fly i have poor gps performance (Northern Italy). I’ve always had 7-8-9 sat with nothing below 2.8 hdop value. I’ve always had this problem . At first of my drones journey, back in time, i suspected defected gps receivers, but after i recognize with different gps that the problem is here i think ( once i made a trip in center italy and i had much better hdop values than were i live.)
I fly always in the middle of a field with low trees.
So, i was thinking of changing the GPS of my iris+ with something better. Someone know some drop in replacement unit? maybe with the new M8N ublox chips?
Today i’ve flown again in a different zone at 10km from where i usually fly. Hdop was 1.8-2.0
I came back to use the latest battery in the previus zone and i had2.8-3.0 steady for 10-15 minutes! I hadnt fly becouse of the 3d gps lock pre arm.
I dont know what to think, that zone (well outside the city, no aereal powerlines nearby) is maybe cursed.
I recently switched to the M8N and am very pleased with it. Where the LEA6-H gets 8 to 10 satellites, the M8N gets 16 to 20, because it also gets GLONASS. There’s also a GPS+GLONASS+SBAS setting, which gives more accuracy by using the Satellite Based Augmentation System.
