Cannot get 'unarmed' or initial set up

Using plane 4.1 stable cannot do initial set up it won’t allow me to calibrate I think it’s because it’s armed. I try to force disarm it won’t let me. I set params to check ‘all’ prior to arm figuring for sure it won’t auto arm then but it still does on re-boot. So A- I don’t know why it’s arming itself B- I don’t know how to disarm C- I’m not %100 sure but I think this is why I can’t do initial set up?? Pixracer isn’t even in my plane yet just testing my GPS etc on the bench and noticed the issue. Cannot set level / calibrate idea’s?? thank you

I do have throttle safe on… but even of I start with my TX on I have the same problem. Cannot force disarm even in manual mode.

It won’t arm unless you tell it, and it passes all the checks.

If you’re using a PixRacer it may also be expecting the safety switch to be pressed before you can arm. You can disable that if you want.

If you haven’t changed anything then the default is stick arming. Rudder to the full right with the throttle down (mode 2).

When you have the controller connected to Mission Planner and you attempt to arm if there’s any errors you should get a message telling you why it can’t arm.

When you do the calibrations, if everything isn’t in the plane make sure you move the GPS and FC at the same time. When I do builds that way I will tape the GPS to the FC housing so they stay in the same orientation as I do the initial calibrations.

Do you mean like a throttle cut on your radio? Some RC throttle cuts will drop the throttle value below the standard calibrated value for the throttle channel. Spektrum throttle cuts drop to -130% for example, and this will mess with the Pixracer. It may actually be thinking you’re in a radio failsafe. I would suggest not using RC throttle cuts and getting the FC arming set up properly.

Well it does… it’s says ‘motors armed’ after it boots up. I am not trying to arm it. It hasn’t even been calibrated yet. I have all checks on so there’s no way it should arm but it does. I forget how to post a log… been awhile. But I’ll figure it out and post one here just so you know I’m not nuts. I’ve been using mission planner. yesterday I installed QGround control and tried to calibrate from that GCS and that’s when I noticed it said you cannot calibrate whiled armed. I went back to MP and booted up and tried ‘do action’ and selected 'disarm… it alerted me are you sure you want to do this? Force disarm? I click continue is comes back says cannot disarm prevented by MAV??? My throttle FS works as it should. If I shut off my TX in goes into RTL as it should.

This shows it arming itself https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yTWIloSTFR0RDGjB4Jck8UbDDaNQ7dMN/view?usp=drivesdk

I figured it out… I needed to change ARMING_REQUIRE to ‘1’ to enable rudder arming otherwise it arms itself. This probably not the case in ‘copter’ but is with ‘plane’? After that I was able to do the accel calibrations.

I’m glad to see you figured it out. Most people have trouble getting things armed, not disarming.

ARMING_REQIRED usually defaults on. So I guess I need to clarify my earlier comment about the only arms when it’s told in the future. :slightly_smiling_face: I assume it’s needed no matter what arming you use. I normally use switch arming but I’ve started playing with the idea of stick arming.
