I just received my Holybro Pixhawk 6C to replace my APM f.c. on my Tarot quad. I already have an M8N GPS module on my aircraft and need to know if I can use it or should I replace it with an M9N module. The port on the 6C f.c. has a 10 pin port for GPS1. My M8N has two connectors - one has two wires and the other has four wires. I’m tempted to just go ahead and replace the M8N with the M9N as I don’t want to order a 10 pin connector and guess what the pinouts should be. Any advice?
Yes, an M8N should work with the 6C. You’ll get better performance with the M9 or M10. You’ll need to splice the connector that is coming off your M8, all you need is 6 wires. TX/RX/5v/Gnd for the GPS and SCL/SDA for the compass. You don’t need to use the GPS 1 port if there’s too much there for you. GPS2 will work, you will just need to adjust the configuration.
Thanks for your input! I’m still on the fence as to whether or not to get the M9N; in the meantime, I need to order a power module as one didn’t come with the package I ordered.
