CAN ESC harmonic notch filter configuration

2025-12-20 19-43-59.bin

Hopefully on latest firmware to avoid the standard comment…

Any advice as to why when setting the esc telemetry harmonic notch filter up my pre and post filter results show no change.

CAN1 esc telem showing well all rpm data voltage current for all 4xesc , that took some time to figure out….

(A6-M-12S tmotor)

Filter tool has the notch lines following well , even shows the multiple notches if selected , got excited now ,

I flew the quad (23 inch prop 12s) no change pre and post filter setting, tried many variations some nearly ending in new props. After 30+ short flights thought best to ask which silly beginner mistake I’ve made.

Should I be using the rpm harmonic notch setting not esc telem ?

With CAN Esc telem is Harmonic notch not available just resort back to same old throttle or fft notch?

Appreciate the time to assist

Kind regards From New Zealand

A couple of days ago another forum user had the same issue. The problem is that your logging is missconfigured. Read the docs or search for the post.

Can you elaborate a bit more? I don’t see any specific problem with RPM your notches, looks like they are tracked correctly

Only one strange thing I noticed - you have RPM data from 5 motors, not sure why.

You might try to setup filter like this, it will give you less attenuation in control frequencies by pushing up your LPF.

Good analysis @mike_tk and good configuration values

Thankyou both for the prompt replies !

Was a logging bitmask issue now showing the pre and post filter data correctly as I was looking for.

@mike_tk Great settings for test flights with only a few minor tweaks it passed a good tune and is flying well , back to more camera testing appreciate the efforts from you both.

Cheers

Pete

I am running a couple A8-X motors from Tmotor through CAN but I’m only getting rpm data at 1Hz, how did you get the rpm feedback frequency high enough to use it for rpm filters? I guess you need about ~100Hz to make it work?

I guess you need to setup the rate in your esc config @tridge explains here

Had a look through the parameters over CAN and through their own programmer. Can’t find any parameter for it, only for acceleration, braking LEDs etc

Probably need a new firmware with user configurable telem rate
