Calculating MOT_THST_EXPO

Hello All,
currently facing issue for calculating MOT_THST_EXPO. I have detail thrust data of T motor MN 5212 motor + t motor Air ESC, The problem is earlier in the ARducopter site there is a excel sheet with formula available and now a Webtool is available to calculate MOT_THST _EXpo, now the problem is excel sheet formula and webtool giving very different expo value. Let me showcase two results. You can see in excel formula around 0.65 is the best fir but in the pdf web tool data 0.045 is greatly fitted.

What is the prop size? Use Initial Parameters in MissionPlanner to set the correct thrust expo.
It seems like 0.65 would be the correct value based on your data though.

Once the copter flies you can use these rules:

  • set too high you can see instability at low throttle
  • set too low you can see instability at high throttle

My target is to get the MOT_THST_EXPO value form thrust data which I got by testing. Not from Initial parameters because there no thrust data vs throttle relation is available, in my understanding that will not give efficient result..

The thrust expo tool gives you a calculated fit at 0.63, which matches expectation. On the chart provided, you are not seeking to match the linear fit with the measured thrust (which would be MOT_THST_EXPO = 0). You are seeking to make the linear fit MOST linear (i.e., make a straight orange line).

Where did you find the old excel sheet? I don’t see it linked from the Motor Thrust Scaling wiki page. I’d like to remove the old link to reduce confusion (we only need one solution)
