Bluetooth Telemetry - Suggestions? Comments?

I’d like to explore simple wireless options for telemetry at short ranges on the ground.

I’m considering the bluetooth option suggested here:

I’m using Crossfire CRLF and running Yaapu on a RadioMaster TX16S. It would be great if I could simply tap into that MavLink data stream.

There is the option of using MLRS with a bluetooth adapter on the transmitter - but I’d like to stay with my TBS Crossfire setup.

I’d welcome any comments, advice or suggestions - Many Thanks!

There is a deep rabbit hole you can go down about using mavlink over Crossfire, and then using the wifi module in your crossfire TX to connect to a GCS (laptop or tablet, etc). Like others here, I’ve had very little luck ever getting it to work reliably. Maybe it will work on the bench but getting it to work outside has been a different story. And remember that for most Crossfire receivers they only have 25mw telemetry power so your range will be significantly limited. It’s been such a let down that I’m seriously considering switching to the new ELRS Gemini X (Radiomaster Nomad).

The mRo Pixracers came with a wifi module that would work reasonably well at close range. I had good luck with those in the past. I’ve never looked into seeing if that could be adapted to use on other FCs.

The reason I want to use blue-tooth is to allow the ground control computer to operate wi-fi without any conflicts.

I have used ESP8266 WiFi radios on multiple craft with all of the RC frequencies with no conflicts, Including Crossfire. The radios @Allister is talking about. I bought a strip of 10 of the cheap esp-01 variety a few years ago for ~$12. They work on anything. BT radios are a pain in the ass.
