Bad/Corrupt Dataflash logs, 60mb of non-stop "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"

So about half of my logs come out ‘corrupted’ for a lack of a better word…

The size of logs usually seem appropriate for the length of flight, but when opened they’re a non-stop string of ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ …

Does this hint to anything?
Are they not saving properly?
Is this some sort of brownout?
Is it because I buy Chinese knock-offs?!

Today my FPV screen went black on final approach… pulled the logs and sadly no data :frowning:

I need data!!!

Landed the bird in one piece thankfully! :slight_smile:

If you bought a chinese pixhawk, throw away the sd card they provided and buy a real sd card . Got plenties problems with chinese sd card…

@npatzke,
khancyr is definitely right. You get what you pay for with the Chinese clones.
When it comes to recording the dataflash parameters I always use SanDisk micro sd cards since the data recorded on the micro sd card can be crucial to determining what happened during a crash or other hardware failures.

I had the same issue with fast SanDisk card. Formatting card in PC (full format, not that quick one) definitely solved it and everything works as expected since then.

Thanks for the replies guys. Will check the brand of SD card, I think it’s the one it came with… I usually do quick format when I pull the SD but i’ll start doing the full format…
