Autonomous Boat - Torqeedo Travel 1003s

@rmackay9

I have gone through DeSeT Mapping boat in this forum, interesting project.

I am working in a similar project on making Torqeedo Travel 1003s (2016 model) to work autonomously( we are using Pixhawk 2.4.8) also I am looking for non-invasive fittings to the outboard. Ideating for steering is really challenging as we have to compromise tilting motion of the outboard, if we do any kind of fitting in the boat side, also I am planning to do some adjustments( see this: Torqeedo Travel 1003 s - Google Drive ) –will this work out??.

Also I am open to suggestions for automating steering and throttle, I priortise non-invasive solutions. Glad to discuss on this!

Hi @giri,

I’m sure you’ve seen the torqeedo motor support here on the wiki so that is the official way to support controlling the motor’s throttle.

For my Deset mapping boat I used a servo connected to a metal bar and then there was a similar metal bar on the motor and the two metal bars were connected by two metal cables.

I’m sure there are many different ways to get it to work but this was how my team did it.

Could I know the specifications of the servo used? also the metal cable is comprised of what material? if I know this, this will save lots of energy and time for us.
what could be the actual torque that is required for steer via servo or stepper?

Also please look into the google drive link ( Torqeedo Travel 1003 s - Google Drive ) , how I am planning to put it. please share your valuable inputs on this.

I have bare minimum experience in CAD modelling, where can I find the cad assembly of Torqeedo Travel 1003 s?

The above image seems like a CAD model, from this post–> Torqeedo Electric Motors — Rover documentation

Our team will be happy to have a interaction with you via virtual meeting. We have tons of doubts, I hope a virtual meet can solve that.
